Dr. Iris Köhler

Owner & Founder of The Scientist Coach

Vita & Qualifications

Iris has a background in agricultural science and received her PhD from the Technical University of Munich in 2013. After a postdoc at the University of Illinois, she moved into science management and coordinated the graduate school at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig. In 2019, she turned her passion for supporting and coaching young scientists into a career and has since been working full-time as a career coach and course instructor for postdocs and PhD students. She has taught and coached over 1000 young researchers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She is a certified Kompetenzenbilanz® coach and career coach.
"Having done research myself as a doctoral student and postdoc, I know the questions and concerns of young scientists from my own experience. It is therefore a matter close to my heart to support young scientists in their career planning. As a partner, competent and with fresh solutions!"

Dr. Sarah de Carvalho Hartmann

HR expert

Vita & Qualifications

Sarah has a background in linguistics and cultural studies and holds a PhD in Human Resources from the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. She completed her Masters and PhD while working as an HR professional in several large international companies in the pharmaceutical, automotive and consumer goods industries.  She currently works for a Swedish corporation. She is also a trained systemic organisational coach and regularly teaches at universities of applied sciences. Sarah finds great joy in guiding young scientists to discover fulfilling career paths beyond academia and has joined The Scientist Coach team to contribute her HR expertise.
"I am passionate about helping people discover their potential and find their individual career path. As part of The Scientist Coach team, I use my HR expertise to help young scientists explore and successfully apply for a variety of career opportunities outside of academia."
