Hello, WELCOME!
good to have you with us!

*Making a ring with layers*

Course Description:

Layers that occur in nature, such as in slate, have fascinated me for a long time. My aim was to bring nature and geometric bodies together. I created rings with layers in many variations.

In this course I would like to explain the procedure for making such a ring step by step. I have decided that you can watch me making a ring almost full time. The motto for me was demonstrate - imitate. So I made 6 videos with a total length of a little more than 4 hours, in which I explain the whole process and procedure. For each video you can also download an accompanying description with the subtitles to the video and time details for the respective steps. This can help you find the steps in the video.

I recommend that you download all the PDF material at the beginning of the course. It is also an advantage to watch the videos before you start. This takes time, but it gives you the opportunity to get to grips with the work you will be doing. You get to know and understand the procedures. It also gives you a chance to get the materials and tools you need. You also have the possibility to book a one-to-one support in case of uncertainties or questions with the help of the platform Zoom on my diary. For simpler questions you can also write me an email which I will answer promptly.

Now I wish you fun, paired with the necessary patience and perseverance!

Something else very important!
You have exclusive access to the private Facebook group *Ceramics Online* register in the group. I will then activate your access.
This group is about the exchange among participants of my online courses. Since the social aspect is missing in the online courses, I hope to cushion this somewhat in this group. I hope for a lively exchange of ceramic specific questions and solutions. I would like to answer as many questions as possible that arise during an online course! So register and join the group!

The ring at the top has a diameter of approx. 40 cm and a depth of approx. 15 cm. the ring gets this precision from the fact that it was constructed with the help of a template. With this technique, the ring becomes absolutely precisely round. The construction is also done in a technique close to the bead technique. I am also convinced that if the ring were to be made using the plate technique, it would hardly survive the firing without cracks, as it is a difficult shape to fire. Also, the walls have to be made relatively thick (about 2 cm). This is because the individual layers are created by removing the clay, so the wall becomes thinner in the area of the layers.

My offer, your procedure,

In this course I would like to explain to you step by step the procedure for making a ring similar to the one shown in the picture. This means that you can watch me making a ring.
I made 6 videos with a total length of a little more than
4 1/2 hours, in which I explain the whole process and procedure.

For each video you can download the subtitles with the time of the video. This makes it easier for you to find individual video sequences.

I recommend that you download all the PDF material at the beginning of the course. It is an advantage to watch the videos before you start working. This takes time, but it gives you the opportunity to get to grips with the work you will be doing. You get to know and understand the procedures. In addition, you can get the necessary materials and tools beforehand.
