Why does this course offer?

This course is designed to qualify you as a professional ear acupuncturist. If you are interested in the potential of ear acupuncture for the treatment of a variety of physical problems, then this is the course for you.


It doesn't matter whether you want to establish ear acupuncture as the main discipline in your range of methods or whether you want to integrate it as a complementary method. In both cases, this course will enable you to apply ear acupuncture independently and to derive the correct therapy in individual cases.



Who is the course intended for?


The course is aimed at medical specialists, general practitioners, alternative practitioners and physiotherapists as well as therapists with comparable professional qualifications. It is for all therapists who want to exploit the potential of ear acupuncture.

How is the course structured and how long is it?


This course consists of 2 main parts with several modules each. The modules build on each other and guide you methodically through the realm of ear acupuncture.

PART 1 (8 h)



Module 1-1 (30 min)

Ear acupuncture – the fast and direct approach to numerous diseases

  • Why study ear acupuncture?

  • Short history of ear acupuncture

  • Anatomy of the reflex zones at the ear

  • Treatment rules at the ear

  • Point detection

  • Front and back side of the ear

  • Examples:

    • Pain at the lumbar spine/SIJ


    • Reflex zones at the head

Module 1-2 (1 h)
Focus: Musculoskeletal system (1)

  • The ear surface and the three germ layers

  • How to locate the spine, the musculoskeletal system, joints, sympathetic trunk

  • Treatment techniques (et al.)


    • Forceps technique


    • One-needle technique for direct muscle relaxation


    • Unblocking small vertebral joints

  • Most important equipment

Module 1-3 (1 h)
Focus: Musculoskeletal system (2)

  • How to unblock the ISG

  • How to treat shoulder problems
(incl. functional shoulder testing)

  • Functional points for the spine and the shoulder

  • How to treat disorders of the arm, hip, leg and/or foot
(achillodynia, arthritis, heel spur etc.)

  • How to release pubic pain in pregnant women

  • How to treat coccyx bone injury

  • Therapy obstacles: What are interference fields?

Module 1-4 (2 h)
Demos: Real patients get painless

  • How to choose the appropriate needle

  • How to make the patient comfortable

  • How to use the most important pain point

  • How to detect interference fields (treatment obstacles)

  • How to treat the „middle burner“ at the ear
(for treating pain an infections and for wight control)

  • How to correctly place ear acupuncture needles

Module 1-5 (1 h 10 min)
Focus: Head, teeth, TMJ, eye, nose, sinuses and inner organs

  • How to locate structures of the head and the sensory organs

  • How to treat disorders of the TMJ

  • How to detect the representation zones of the internal organs

  • How to use the reflex zones of lung, heart, stomach, esophagus, duodenum, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, spleen, kidney and urinary bladder

  • Therapy obstacle dental field

Module 1-6 (2 h)

Focus: Functional points, inner organs, psyche, addiction, endocrine system

  • Most important functional points
(allergy point, zone-dominating points, anti-inflammatory points, immune enhancing points, interferon point etc.)

  • When to treat left and right handed patients

  • How to treat reflex zones of the sympathetic to improve complaints of the inner organs and the spine

  • The importance of pain points:


    • Continued: How to use the Thalamus point/Pain point
- The laterality point as pain point

    • Continued: How to unblock the middle burner

  • When to use psychotropic points

    (anti-aggression point, Anxiety point, Omega main point, Omega 2-point, diazepam point, anti-depression point etc.)

  • Smoking cessation treatment

  • How to treat migraines

  • How to treat disorders of the endocrine system

Module 2-4 (1 h 10 min)

    • How to treat depression, anxiety disorders, depression, autonomic, over-excitability


    • How to address strong emotions like anger, fear and restlessness

Your trainer

Dr Beate Strittmatter is one of the world's best-known lecturers in ear acupuncture.
She is a specialist in general medicine and a licensed acupuncturist and ear acupuncturist.
Beate is training manager for ear acupuncture at the School for Auriculotherapy and Ear Acupuncture (auriculo.org) and The German Academy for Acupuncture (DAA).

How long do you have to complete the course?

If you complete the course and take the exam within a year, you will receive a certificate. The course itself is available to you for longer (There is no such thing as "lifelong" or unlimited in this world:-).

What certification will you be given?

On completion of the course you will receive the "Ear acupuncturist" qualification certificate (auriculo.org).
